I would like HTTP streaming to work but I don't think content owners will accept it.

The encryption is little more than using SSL for the transaction and hoping the device obeys the caching instructions. There is no support for downloadable windows, output protection or revocation of 'broken' clients.

Do you see any traction for HTTP streaming ( http://j.mp/14KTbZ , http://j.mp/11cu81 )? It's an Apple defined spec, but should be easily implementable in Flash or Silverlight. It supports streaming encrypted files as well, so in theory one could implement this without licensing Fairplay (which ain't going to happen anytime soon).
